In October 2015, Futures for Somerset (the Somerset Local Education Partnership) were appointed by Somerset County Council to undertake a Capacity Review and Masterplanning exercise for Heathfield Community School.

Heathfield Community School is located on the outskirts of Taunton and provides secondary (KS4) and Post-16 education to a wide catchment area.  Heathfield is currently a Local Authority maintained school.

Works identified in the Capacity Review and Masterplanning exercise that have now been completed as Phase 1 works are:

• Science, Arts and General Teaching Block

• Performing Arts Block

• ASD Facility Remodeling and Refurbishment

• Roof Maintenance

Futures for Somerset worked with Halsall Construction to provide a turnkey Design and Build solution for the Local Authority. 

​

Futures for Somerset have provided a range of services into this project.  Delivering an end-to-end service we have provided Feasibility, Project Management, Procurement and Employer’s Agent Services.  In addition we have also assisted the Local Authority with the management of off-site works and land transactions.

​

Phase 1 project value is in the region of £1.8 million and includes the delivery of infrastructure solutions to the site for utilities and highways connections. This project has provided unique challenges and required close liaison with a number of stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
